O'Hara

Theodore O’Hara (1820 – 1867) Confederate soldier Theodore O’Hara is best remembered as author of the poem Bivouac of the Dead, one of the most popular poems ever written by a Kentuckian. Its lines appear in many of the country’s National Cemeteries and have been memorized by generations of Kentucky school children. O’Hara grew up in Frankfort, studied law, and was a journalist and editor of the Kentucky Yeoman.
