 Emma Guy Cromwell (1865 – 1952)

Emma Guy Cromwell (1865 – 1952) Born in Allen County, KY, Cromwell was the first woman in the Commonwealth elected to a state office, serving as state librarian, secretary of state, state treasurer, state parks director, and state bond commissioner. As secretary of state Cromwell became the first female to act as Governor of Kentucky. Her Frankfort home still stands at 124 West State Street.
